Ultra-wideband will connect mobiles for file sharing in 2007
Mobile phones have become so popular that more than one billion people worldwide own at least one device. While cellular data rates are improving, it is still difficult to transfer a file or a picture from one phone to another. Most users have yet to attempt a peer-to-peer connection between handsets and it is clear that cellular operators would prefer that all traffic from a mobile phone crosses their networks.
Cellular Connection Problems Decreasing, Study Finds
The number of problems getting connected while making cellular phone calls has dropped in half compared to last year, according to a study by J.D. Power and Associates. The study also found the number and duration of calls is increasing. The study found that about three percent of all calls have at least one problem making the initial connection, the research firm said in a statement. That is down from about six percent in last year's survey even though the sheer quantity of calls has increased in that time, the company said.

Cisco Home Agent Redundancy and Load Balancing
Today's networking environment offers a mix of different access technologies: a Wi-Fi hotspot at the local coffee shop, a Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) or Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) cellular phone, a LAN connection at work, or a cable or DSL modem at home. Mobile IP delivers a way to transparently provide a constant connection as a user moves from one access network to the next with Cisco Mobile Wireless Home Agent (MWHA) as the anchor point. Cisco MWHA is one of three components required for Mobile IP, the other two being the foreign agent and the mobile node.
Cellular One call center to close
Dobson Communications Corp. says it will close its Cellular One call center in Frederick July 1, eliminating 150 jobs.
