Cingular Launches 3G Network
Cingular Wireless today officially rolled out their 3G HSDPA (UTMS) highspeed network. Cingular Wireless is the first carrier in the world to offer HSDPA (which is a variation of UMTS 3G).  Cingular is calling their 3G network "BroadbandConnect" and will be rolled out first in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, San Diego, Seattle and San Francisco.  Cingular released their network with the launch of notebook cards, however no phones we're announced at this time. The card for access to this network is being introduced by Sierra Wireless, the Sierra Wireless AirCard 860 3G wireless wide area network (WWAN) card for HSDPA networks, making it available through Cingular in the U.S for use o­n the company's new HSDPA network. Customers can purchase the AirCard 860 card at Cingular retail locations or through enterprise sales channels for US US$99.99 with a two-year unlimited use contract.
